The Tragedy of Vanitor – Act 1 – Section A

The Tragedy of Vanitor

Act 1: The Eye of the Absurd

Introduction

Call me Vanitor, for I am empty.
I shall prophecy the course of what has been
and what will come again.

The Silence of Nature

Once before I’ve made the pilgrimage
to this damned mountain cliff.
The Eye resides above it.
Ever-watching, never-changing.

Seeking answers of meaning
was the reason I came
but after staring into the Eye
I walked away.

For I rejected the futility
of its silent answers.
I demanded nature
declare unto me its meaning.

But nature doesn’t care about me,
or you, weary traveler.
It provides no meaning,
yet it always goes on.
